2020 Awards Dinner Nomination Form

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT IS NOVEMBER 3, 2019 AT MIDNIGHT.

Georgia Bio is seeking nominations for the annual awards to be presented at the Awards Dinner in February 2020. After reviewing the categories below, please submit your nominations online below no later than Sunday November 3, 2019 at midnight. The GaBio Awards Committee will make the final selections. GaBio membership is not required to submit a nomination.

There is no limit to the number of nominations that a person may submit. You may submit one nomination or multiple. If you would like to submit more nominations that the form allows, simply revisit this webpage and submit a new form.

Georgia Bio Industry Growth Awards

Awarded annually to two people, one from the public sector and the other from the private sector, who have made an extraordinary contribution to the growth of the life sciences industry in Georgia.

Phoenix Award


The Phoenix award represents the iconic "rising from the ashes" of the Phoenix, a symbol of strength, tenacity and leadership and is presented to celebrate the best Industry and Academics collaboration. The two Georgia honorees will have forged academic and industry relationships that will drive translation and lead to new treatments and cures. Sponsored by the Metro Atlanta Chamber.

Innovation Award


Georgia Innovation Award honors the department, institution, company or individuals who are forging new ground by thinking outside traditional paradigms to create some unique technology.

Georgia Bio Community Awards


Awarded to a small number of individuals, companies or institutions whose contributions to Georgia’s life sciences community are worthy of special recognition.

Deal of the Year Awards


Awarded to one or more companies or institutions for the most significant financial or commercial transactions closed from November 1, 2018-October 31, 2019, based on the importance of the transaction to Georgia’s life sciences industry.

Legislator of the Year Awards

Recognizes legislator/s for their support of the life sciences industry in Georgia.

Emerging Leader of the Year Award


Awarded to individuals who have made a significant impact on the life sciences industry through their studies or employment. An “emerging leader” is someone who is currently involved with graduate or postdoctoral studies, or who has completed their education within the past 10 years.

Teacher of the Year


The Teacher of the Year award recognizes excellence in STEM teaching and support for the biotechnology pathway, part of Georgia’s Career Clusters, by a current high school biotechnology teacher.

The nominee has taught at least one biotechnology course in the previous year. (required)
